Khao Yai Tieng (KYT) is easily one of the most beautiful—and let’s be honest, most challenging—hashes of the year. Its unique topography features a dramatic ridge running down from the top of the mountain, with a pumped storage reservoir sitting proudly at the peak. Add in the 12 massive wind turbines that line the ridge, sweeping down toward the plateau near Friendship Highway and the Laem Takong reservoir, and you've got quite the scene.
In past KYT hashes, we have taken you through a series of ups and downs, literally. We’d descend into a valley, climb back up to the plateau where the Ma Du Dao restaurant is located, and then loop around it—often resulting in rides with a vertical climb ranging between 700 and 800 meters. These technical challenges have been known to scare off some hashers who prefer a more “family-friendly” experience.
Well, good news! This year, we’re shaking things up. Think of it as the KYT version of a ski resort—minus the snow (and, unfortunately, the chairlifts). We’ve crafted a Saturday hash that keeps you all on the KYT ridge, making it both family-friendly and fun! Get ready to explore the wonders of the KYT Bike Park on both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's Ride (2 November at 12:30)
The ride kicks off with a 10 km downhill stretch toward the cliff, followed by a descent down the Green Trail (aka Cliff Trail). We’ll then cut over to Harold’s Foreplay, glide onto Harold’s Highway, connect to EGAT Connection, and finish up on Dead Dog Lane. Your ride can end with a coffee at the one of shops at the bottom of the access road, near Friendship Highway—because what's a good hash without a good coffee (or beer), right?
Now, since we could not afford to set up a chairlift, we’ve arranged the next best thing: 5 trusty “songtaews” (trucks with bench seats) to whisk you back up to the top of the mountain. Of course, for those feeling extra energetic, you’re welcome to skip the ride and pedal your way back up.
Once you're back at the top of KYT (near the guardhouse below the dam), you’ll be able to choose your adventure—among 5 trail options in the KYT bike park. These are trails developed for the KYT Enduro a few years back. Here’s the lineup:
Purple Trail
Orange Trail
Yellow Creamy Trail (aka Creamy Ending)
Red Trail
Black Trail (aka Rock Garden—a double black diamond!)
Sunday’s Ride (3 November around 9:30)
On Sunday, we will ride off as usual at 9:30 am, and we will continue the family-friendly vibe, sticking to the bike park side of the mountain. We’ll start by heading past the restaurant and up toward Cacafonix Gardens, before swinging around to hit some fresh new trails, including the Blue Trail and Solar Up. For the more adventurous, we’ve got an FRB loop too! The total distance for Sunday will be a manageable 20 km.
So, whether you're a seasoned hash rider or someone just looking for a more relaxed experience, we’ve got you covered. Get ready for an epic weekend of fun, breathtaking views, and good times at KYT!
Merge onto Route 1 north toward Saraburi and then go east onto Route 2 at Saraburi. We recommend taking the bypass around Saraburi (Route 362) and then merge onto Route 2 toward Khorat (Nakhon Ratchasima).
Follow Highway 2 through Pakchong. About 30 mins after Pakchong, you will see wind turbines in the distance on a large mountain on the right side (Khao Yai Tiang).
There will be major elevated road construction. The construction goes for several km. While you are under the elevated construction, Google Maps may direct you to make a U turn and then head up the hill toward the resort. This is a back way on a narrow road, which is harder to drive, and only saves a couple of minutes. We recommend you NOT take this turn. Instead, continue on the main highway (Route 2). About 2 km after the overhead road veers away from Route 2, take a U-turn near the top of a hill after km marker 89.
After you take the U turn, drive back (toward Bangkok) on Route 2, for about 3 km, and take a left at a small intersection immediately after passing under a pedestrian bridge (see photos below). As you drive up the hill you will catch sight of windmills above the treetops in front of you. And you will also see a very tall blue sign with directions to many different resorts and sites on Khao Yai Tiang.
Take a look at the photo album for extra information, ensuring you won't miss a turn
Drive up the road about 5 km, and you will see the resort on your left.
